This technology holds great promise to promote U.S.A. energy independence as a domestically
produced hydrocarbon of unlimited production potential.
This system converts electrical energy directly into tangible methane gas.
We feel this is an ideal hydrocarbon fuel as it has minimal environmental impact
(it consumes CO2 as the new methane fuel is produced.)
Fifty-seven tons of CO2 is required to produce one million cubic feet of methane.
Methane fuel can be used immediately as a fuel for internal combustion, diesel,
and gas turbine engines.
This same methane can be used as a feedstock for the production of plastic and fertilizer
production.
By reducing fertilizer cost, this methane fuel has the potential to reduce food
related costs.
This is in contrast to ethanol production which competes with our current fuel supply.
When this methane molecule combusts in the atmosphere, it returns to CO2 and water.
The ultimate equation is that electrical energy equals hydrocarbon fuel (there is
no other net environmental affect in terms of CO2, hydrogen, water, and oxygen balance).
Our current transportation system is based on internal combustion engines and this
can be rapidly converted to a methane based economy.
The Honda-GX is listed as 36 miles per gallon and serves as an ultra low emission
vehicle. This vehicle is currently in production and runs on methane gas.
There is current production of diesel/methane hybrids which reduce the demand for
diesel fuel by 90%.
The same diesel engines reduce particulate emission by 85% (see web site www.westport.com).
Synthetically produced methane is a superior hydrocarbon and the only hydrocarbon
that can claim carbon neutral environmental impact.
Current automobile availability Honda-GA – CA rated advanced technology near Zero
Emission Vehicle while providing outstanding fuel mileage (36 miles per gallon).
Cummins–Westport technology currently operates diesel vehicles requiring only 10%
of the current diesel fuel quantities while providing the highest environmental
standards for transport trucks.
U.S. based production of methane guarantees U.S. control over production quantities,
consistent supply, and price stability.
The only by-product of this reactor is H20, thereby underscoring its environmental
friendliness.
